Andrada Suspended 12 Matches for Punch in Segunda Clash
Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada received a 12-match ban for punching SD Huesca defender Jorge Pulido during a Spanish second-division match this weekend. The Argentine keeper earned an additional one-match suspension for a red card shown before the punch. The incident unfolded in the final minutes as Andrada shoved Pulido to the ground, prompting a second yellow card, before chasing and striking him with a right hand.
Pulido fell, sparking a brawl involving players and staff from both teams. Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jimenez also received a red card and a four-match ban for punching Andrada amid the melee. Andrada later apologized for his actions, and all suspensions remain subject to appeal.
In a separate first-division incident, Rayo Vallecano winger Isi Palazon drew a seven-match ban for protesting referee decisions from the bench during his team's 3-3 draw with Real Sociedad on Sunday. Palazon had been substituted earlier; officials disallowed a Rayo goal after video review and awarded Sociedad a penalty from the same sequence.
The bans will sideline key players for Zaragoza and Rayo amid tight promotion races in their respective divisions.
